Squirrels go nuts for nuts. They will unabashedly go for any nuts that have dropped off trees or bushes, whether they’re peanuts, walnuts, cashews, or even almonds. However, don’t worry if you have no nuts. They’ll come looking for other things. They’re not very picky at all. This has led to hilarious viral videos of squirrels stealing food meant for other animals - bird seed from bird feeders, nuts from cats, and even food meant for dogs.
They’ll also take your fruits and vegetables if you have a garden. They love tomatoes, and sometimes even chicken wire won’t deter them from getting those fruits and vegetables. If you have squirrels, it’s most likely going to be a losing battle to keep a garden safe.
