There are many types of flour, about fifty of them. Let us take a look at some of the frequently used ones in this article. The one considered to be the most popular is the all-purpose flour. This is made from the combination of hard and soft wheat. Bread flour is made from purely hard wheat. We have the cake flour, which is gotten from soft ground wheat. Pastry flour is finer than the all-purpose flour because it is also made from soft wheat. Whole wheat flour is gotten by grinding just the red wheat kernels.

Another flour gotten from the hard white wheat is the white whole wheat flour. Oats flour is gotten from ground oats. This flour is gluten-free and recommended for those on a gluten-free diet. Another unique kind of flour is the self-rising flour, which is gotten from blending together of all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Lastly on the list is semolina, which is gotten from grinding the durum wheat endosperm.
