Cisco express forwarding is a packet-switching operation designed to reduce time sending information across the internet. It is an advanced layer 3 switching technology that large core networks use, a topology-switching method. It optimizes network performance and scalability for networks with large, dynamic traffic interactions.

It is more secure and less CPU-intensive than fast switching route caching. More CPU processing power can be dedicated to Layer 3 services such as quality of service (QoS) and encryption. When routing or topology changes occur in the network, the IP routing changes accordingly. The answer to this question is therefore, Option D.
