Butter is one of the most important ingredients in certain recipes which call for its use because of its flavor and rich creamy feeling in our mouths. In almost all recipes, you will notice that it calls for unsalted butter. This is because when you use salted butter, you will no longer have better control of how much salt goes into the dish you are preparing.

Although butter is one of the most important ingredients, it should be noted that it can still be substituted with any of the following ingredient: Applesauce, Earth balance, canola oil, Greek yogurt, and prune puree. However, please remember that you cannot always use any of the above-mentioned substitute because the flavor will greatly vary.
