No, generally recipes are not considered as trade secrets. For a recipe to be considered as one, it must fall under the definition of trade secrets under the Uniform Trade Secrets Act of 1984 which states that trade secrets are “information, including a formula, pattern, compilation, program, device, method, technique, or process, that: (1) Derives independent economic value, actual or potential, from not being generally known to the public or to other persons who can obtain economic value from its disclosure or use; and (2) Is the subject of efforts that are reasonable under the circumstances to maintain its secrecy.” If you did invent your own recipe, it most certainly meets the first requirement. However, you should also exercise reasonable effort to maintain your own recipe as a trade secret.
