Both skeletal and cardio muscles are controlled separately in the body, with skeletal muscles being under the control of the somatic nervous system, while cardio muscles are involuntarily controlled by the body. In other words, cardio muscles are not controlled by individual conscious choice or decision. Aside from this little difference, there are other differences between the two.

Although both skeletal and cardio muscles are known as striated muscles, their structures are found in different parts of the body. While skeletal muscles are usually attached to the bones, cardio muscles are found in the middle of the three layers forming the outer wall of the human heart i.e., on the myocardium. When you consider the cellular characteristics of the muscles, there is a difference in that a typical skeletal cell is bigger than a cardiac cell.

Also, another differentiating feature is their shapes; cardiac muscle cells have a cylindrical shape, whereas skeletal cells do not have this type of shape.
