A torn muscle is an injury prompted by an overstretched tendon or muscle. Some fibers are split apart, and they lose the capability for contraction. The amount of tissue will tell how serious the injury. The most familiar cause of this condition is the overuse of muscles, such as overexercising.

This process will eventually weaken the muscle. If the joints and muscles consistently do things that they cannot handle, an injury can arise, and this is often due to stress, or it may be a gradual decline in the use of the muscle. Pulled muscles, on the other hand, are injuries that are instigated by damaged ligaments.

Ligaments are a thick group of tissues that steadies and surround the joints in motion only in local directions. Several joints move in different planes that necessitate more than a group of ligaments to grasp the joint’s proper location and alignment. The ligaments are connected to the bone. The most common example of a pulled muscle is when you twist your ankle.

Pulled muscle and torn muscle might share some similarities, but they are two different things. A pulled muscle is also known as a sprain. A torn muscle can also be called a strain. A pulled muscle can occur when there is an injury to the ligament. On the other hand, a torn muscle can occur when there is an injury to muscles or tendons. When the muscles or tendons are overstretched, they lose their ability to contract, thereby causing torn muscles. When this happens, the fibers or tissues will tear apart. It can be a very serious condition, most especially if more tissues are badly affected. Any damage or injury to the ligaments that surround the joints will always cause pulled muscles. Pulled muscles are experienced at the ankles. This damage can occur by rolling or twisting the ankles, most especially in an abrupt manner.

It can be very uncomfortable when you have some issues with your muscles because you know that you will find it a bit hard to move. When you have a pulled muscle, this means that you have stretched your muscles a bit too far from what it is supposed to do. If the pulled muscle is acute, you need to apply ice to it. If the pulled muscle is already chronic, you can use a warm compress in order to improve this.

Some muscle strains will go away in a few days to a few weeks. A torn muscle will feel stiff and you will find it even harder to move as compared to a pulled muscle. If you have a torn muscle, you would need to get it checked so that the doctor can assess the type of treatment needed to help your muscles heal.
