Superstition is a belief based on things that are completely strange to human reason or scientific knowledge, also with the belief that future events may be influenced by one's behavior in some magical or mystical way. There are a lot of superstitions countries in the world. Examples are India, Japan, China, North Korea, Egypt, Greece, Haiti, Cuba, the Philippines, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Peru, France, etc. The high level of superstitions in these countries is due to the influence of multicultural, multi-religious society they have. Most of these religions have their foundations on supernatural things.

Apart from cultural and religious factors, problems like ignorance, illiteracy are also contributors. The increasing rate of insecurities is also a problem. I've heard about a lot of people doing weird things just because they wanted to be protected from evils. A lot of them will be asked to come for spiritual cleansing and all that.
