Since the Hubble Space Telescope started orbiting the earth in 1993, it has been sending back information and images about our universe. Based on such information and images, astronomers have estimated the number of galaxies in our universe to be over 100 billion. That is almost an unbelievable number. What’s even more amazing is that the Hubble replacement, known as the James Webb Space Telescope, also called Webb or JWST is scheduled to be launced in 2021.

Webb was designed to be able to see infrared wavelengths meaning it will be able to see behind dust clouds and the number of galaxies may be discovered to be even greater, or at least maybe more accurate, once data starts coming in.
