Just recently, food has been studied to determine what affect it has on the brain. Foods that are high in fat can cause infections to the hypothalamus. Rodents were experimented on by giving them large amounts of fatty foods. The results show that the rodents who ate these fatty foods had an infection to their hypothalamus in their brains.

However, their bodies fought off the infection just like it is trained to do, but the infection came back since the rodents were still on their fatty food diet. This infection lasted for many months. However, animal brains are not always like human brains. Studies have been done about fast food consumption and brain problems. Eating fatty foods especially at fast food restaurants can cause the brain to reduce in size and Alzheimer’s.
