Did you know that it is still uncertain what causes hiccups? Although the cause is unknown, hiccups can certainly be annoying at times especially if you are in a public place. There are many options on how to stop hiccups, and while some of these options are not entirely backed up by evidence, it won’t hurt to give it a try.

To stop hiccups, you can one of your palms with the thumb of another hand, you can take a deep breath and hold it for a few seconds, you can stick your fingers in your ears for about twenty seconds, you can even stick out your tongue to quell the spasms that can cause hiccups, you can also drink a teaspoon of honey or sugar with a warm water, and you can swallow a teaspoon of cider vinegar (but I don’t recommend this because it will leave an unpleasant taste in your mouth).
