There are different ways to bake a potato. If you want to perfectly bake a potato, then all you need to have are the following ingredients: One teaspoon of Olive oil or melted butter, one medium potato (preferably Russet potato), and ½ teaspoon of sea salt (but this is extremely optional). First you have to preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit if you are using a convection oven and 400 degrees Fahrenheit if you are using the regular or the conventional oven. Rinse and scrub the potato, but do not soak it in water.

Dry the potato, pierce it with a fork or a sharp knife four times on each side to allow steam to flow while being baked, and rub the outside with your olive oil or butter and sprinkle it with some salt to taste. Wrap the potato in an aluminum foil if you want it to be soft (don’t wrap in an aluminum foil if you want it crispy), and then bake for 45 minutes.
