Conflict between teenagers can arise for a number of reasons. The teenage years are an extremely volatile time for young adults, and hormones are often at extremely high levels. Additionally, the part of their brain that controls impulses is not fully developed, which means they are more likely to make rash decisions based on their emotions instead of on logic. This makes it possible for seemingly small issues to cause large conflicts between teenagers. A few common causes of conflict between teens include:

• Perceived insults

• Encroaching upon relationships

• Difference of opinion

• Conflicting lifestyles

Conflicts can even arise simply at the encouragement of peers. With emotions running high and the ability to reason through their actions not fully developed, conflicts can be very common.
