The battle of Hastings was the definitive battle between the Saxons and the Normans for control of England. William the Conqueror defeated King Herod of the Saxons at Hastings.

The Battle of Hastings was fought on 14 October 1066. It was a battle between the Normans and the Saxons under the Norman army of William, the Duke of Normandy, and an English army under the Saxon King Harold Godwinson. William the Duke of Normandy defeated King Harold Godwinson of the Saxons.
