York castle high school is a secondary school founded in 1875. York castle high school started as a theological college by the Methodist Church. After some years, the theological college named York castle was forced to close its doors due to financial problems. However, before the closure of York castle, the principal at that time, Mr. T. Bramwell, set up a Middlesex High school.
The school was later renamed Henderson High School after Rev. George Henderson. The establishment of Henderson High School during the period of York castle's closure helped so many students. In 1946, the Methodist Church also saw the need to establish a co-educational school for boys. This idea was supported by the whole church and a committee was set up to actualize the project.
However, on November 30, 1956, an offer came from Northside secondary school, asking the Methodist Church to continue running the school. This was accepted by the committee, and they were able to purchase Northside secondary school. After the school was handed over to the Methodist Church on January 1, 1957, it was renamed York Castle High School on May 16, 1975.
