Maxillary is the type of sinus that won’t drain well in an upright position, and can cause tooth ache. The maxillary sinus is the largest of all the nasal sinuses. It is shaped in the form of a pyramid and it drains in the middle meatus of nose.

There are three different recesses that this sinus has. It contains an alveolar recess, a zygomatic recess and an infraorbital recess. Those students who study the anatomy of the head study about sinuses in quite a lot of detail. The inflammation that is related to sinuses is called sinusitis and it could result in buildup of fluid.

Maxillary

Maxillary sinus usually drains when full because the opening is high in the sinus. The roots of the teeth extend into the sinus. For this reason, an infection in the sinus can cause pain.
