HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is a standard for interfacing multiple devices like players, TVs, computers, and video game consoles. On the other hand, a component is an analog means of transporting individual signals from one of the technologies that are breaking ground.

The component needs a single line for each of the data streams it requires to transmit video game consoles. On the contrary, HDMI utilizes a single cable transmit of SD or HD video signal, a user electronics connection, and up to eight channels of audio signals.

HDMI is the preferred connection when using LCDs. LCDs are digital devices that need digital data to display. A component is suitable as your source analog, but HDMI maintains the source's information to your screen.

If you are confused with what these two are, you should know that they are cables that can be used when you want to connect your television to another gadget. The gadget will be able to provide the channels or the capability for your television to access more shows. Component cables are known to be highly effective when carrying a full bandwidth up to 1080p and HDMI cables will be able to offer the same. The main difference between the two is that HDMI will provide the type of signal that is needed in a more digital format. For the component video, the signal will be given in an analog format. There are some people who may use these cables simultaneously depending on their needs.

Are you confused between the difference between the HDMI and the component? When you say HDMI cable, this means that it can deliver the signal that you need in a digital format. This means that you are able to get the file that you are sending to be delivered from one computer to another network.

When you say component, this means that it will be in analog format. This means that the delivery of the signal will come in different voltages. It will not be in the bitstream. There are some cables right now that will come with both HDMI and component depending on what you need to use.

HDMI and component are two types of video connections and standards. Both of these standards support various types of video resolutions. Both of these standards deliver signals in different ways. HDMI delivers signals through a digital format. This type of delivery is similar to how a file is delivered from one device to another. Components deliver signals through analog formats. When these signals are delivered, they are done so through different types of voltages. Many prefer HDMI because they feel that when the signals are transferred, they will be error-free. However, both types of standards are prone to errors.
