Hysterectomy can be defined as a procedure for performing surgery whereby the uterus is partially or completely removed with or without the other female genital tract organs. Hysterotomy, on the other hand, can be defined as a procedure for performing surgery whereby the uterus undergoes an incision process during the operation.
Hysterotomy can also be referred to as uterotomy, which can be a part of the process carried out during hysterectomy operation. If you want to carry out a complete hysterectomy operation, that means you are going to remove all the uterus together with the other female genital tract organs such as the cervix, ovaries, and the fallopian tubes.
But in the case of a partial hysterectomy, you only have to remove the uterus only and leave the other genital tract organs. On the contrary, since you cannot take an incision by making an approach from the virginal end, then you must go through the abdomen.
