The WBA and WBC are both boxing associations, but they differ in their connotation. WBA is the World Boxing Association, while WBC stands for The World Boxing Council. The World Boxing Association is the oldest boxing organization in existence, and its fellow organizations praise it. It was founded in 1962.

The World Boxing Council was founded in 1963 by the Mexican president, with the assistance of eleven different countries. These include The United States, France, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Argentina, The United Kingdom, Philippines, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. Both the WBA and the WBC have weight divisions for the male boxer, while they have an added weight category for women.
