IVF stands for in-vitro fertilization, while IVM stands for in-vitro maturation. In-vitro maturation is a procedure of assisted reproductive technology that entails collecting eggs from a woman before them being matured with hormonal injections. IVF is conducted in five medical stages, which include ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization, selection, and embryo transfer. IVM is completed in seven medical steps, including folliculogenesis, primordial follicle growth, secondary follicle growth, early tertiary follicle growth, late follicle growth, and finally, preovulatory follicle growth. Invitro fertilization is a process of artificial insemination, and the goal is to treat infertility. On the other hand, in-vitro maturation is a means of permitting follicles to mature in vitro for further clinical evaluation.
