Hydrocodone and Vicodin are both drugs that are prescribed to help with pain. Hydrocodone is an opioid narcotic, while Vicodin, on the other hand, has acetaminophen in it, which separates it from hydrocodone. Paracetamol acts as an analgesic and a fever reducer, while hydrocodone is used as analgesic and antitussive. Both drugs are prescribed at the same rate, but the two medications work differently.

Hydrocodone contains acetaminophen and oxycodone, while Vicodin is comprised of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone has come to be one of the most widely abused drugs today. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the drug because it is so addictive. Vicodin, on the other hand, is another drug that is often abused.

However, many people think it does not work as strongly as hydrocodone. When people take hydrocodone or Vicodin and do not need it, it can produce euphoria feelings and give the person a high.

Hydrocodone and Vicodin are drugs used to suppress or alleviate pain in patients. Hydrocodone was first discovered by Helene Lowenheim and Carl Mannich in 1920. However, it was first produced in the United States in the 1940s. On the contrary, Vicodin is one of the trade names of Hydrocodone. The constituents of the two drugs also differ. For instance, the active ingredients of Vicodin are Hydrocodone and Paracetamol. The active ingredient of Hydrocodone is opioids. When you compare the year of discovery of the two drugs, Hydrocodone is the older of the two. Paracetamol is included in Vicodin to produce an antipyretic effect and to act as an analgesic. Hydrocodone has so many uses. It works by suppressing the urge to cough in patients. It is indicated for people with insomnia. On the contrary, Vicodin is used to alleviate mild to severe pain in patients. People also use it to suppress the urge to cough.

Some people may assume that hydrocodone and Vicodin are the same medication. When you say Vicodin, this contains both hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is obviously one of the main ingredients or sometimes the lone ingredient that will work as an analgesic. Hydrocodone can also be found in different branded medications that can be purchased. The number of acetaminophens will also vary for both. For Vicodin, you can expect about 300 mg of acetaminophen, but for Hydrocodone, you can expect about 325 mg of acetaminophen. There may also be some differences with their effect. These medications are meant to help get rid of the pain that may be caused by varying factors.
