Matte and gloss finishes are usually used to cover books or any paper materials. The very obvious difference between matte and finish is the shine of them. Matte has an undersaturated finish while gloss has a more vibrant and shinier finish.
Images printed on a gloss type of paper have more solid and vibrant colors compared to images printed on a matte finish that have a more dramatic color effect. They are also both different in touch, the matte finish has a rougher feel compared to a glossy type which has a smooth feel. A glossy paper is also thinner to a matte paper, the reason why colors printed on glossy papers are more saturated than of a matte type.
There are a lot of people who may choose between matte and glossy in so many ways. Some would need to choose between the two when they are trying to find the right paper where they are going to print some images. Glossy will have a more shiny exterior, and there is a big chance that the pictures will always reflect light.
Matte is chosen by people when they want to have a more opaque or flat surface. There are also some people who may choose matte in lipsticks because this can make the lips appear plumper. Those who usually have dry lips would avoid using matte lipsticks because the dryness of the lips may be emphasized.
