You might not notice any difference between longboard and skateboard if you are looking at the two sports equipment from afar. Both longboard and skateboard are two types of sports equipment. They are commonly used for traveling, downhill racing, and cruising. Longboard looks almost the same as a skateboard, but it differs from skateboard when you consider their length and the width. A longboard is usually longer than a skateboard. The most commonly seen longboards are in the range of 85cm to 150cm in terms of length, while skateboards have generally their length in the range of 71cm to 84cm.

As you would expect, the wheels under longboards are always bigger than the wheels under skateboards. Due to the relatively bigger size of longboards, you don't always enjoy performing the various skills you've got, while skateboards are easy to perform different types of skills. But in terms of speed, a longboard is the real deal.
