The Kurdish people are referred to as Kurd. They are an ethnic group who find their settlement majorly in the Middle East and are a minority in some other parts of the globe. Sunni is a subgroup of Islamic people to which many people from different ethnics and country of the world belong to. So, the Kurds only subscribe or belong to the Sunni belief. Sunni Islam is the largest community of Islamic religion, which can also be referred to as the Sunnites or Sunni Muslims.

The Sunni is a term derived from the Arabic word "Sunnah." " Sunnah" was part of the frequenting words and actions of Prophet Mohammed when he was on earth. Though the Kurds subscribe majorly to Sunni, a minority of them subscribe to other beliefs too. The Kurds speak the Kurd language, but the Sunnites speak two or more languages, i.e., plus the language of the nation they live.
