What is the difference between Hoist and Crane?

Both the hoist and the crane perform comparable functions of lifting loads up and down. The hoist is a piece of machinery, used in construction, which is used to raise and lower loads vertically. It can’t move in any other direction like moving horizontally. Cranes are more complicated because they not only move vertically but horizontally as well.

Cranes have multi-purposes, while hoists are more straightforward in design. The crane can be utilized for demolishing by the addition of a wrecking ball. Cranes are also used for removing waste material from the site by connecting to the scoop. A hoist is used only for one purpose, and it is only for lowering and raising loads vertically.
