Only is a word that is used often in our daily language. We probably use it more than we really realize that we are using it. However, the word only can be used as an adverb, adjective and conjunction. Most of the time it is used as an adverb. It means solely or to be one. Just can be either an adjective or adverb. Just is usually used as an adjective.

Therefore, one difference is that just is mainly used as an adjective and only is used as an adverb usually. Just means exactly or totally as an adverb. Only means one and just means precisely. Their definitions are different but many people believe and use the words interchangeably even though their definitions are different.
