The speaker of the house of representatives is the parliamentary leader of the house of representatives. The speaker of the house of representatives is also the presiding officer of the house, having been elected by the majority of the members of the house of representatives. Usually, someone from the majority or the ruling party takes over the position because they tend to have more members than any other political party.

One of the responsibility of the presiding officer or the speaker is to coordinate the legislative activities of the house. He doesn't take part or participate when other members are deliberating on anything. The Speaker of the house of representatives also perform various other administrative and procedural functions, and share or delegate several roles and responsibilities to some members of the congress
