A VQ scanner is very useful in finding embolisms because it uses special x-ray scanners to create visuals of what is going on inside your body, like in your lungs. It can rule out an embolism or a blood clot or it can indicate that one is present. There are some limitations the scan has but it is definately the best thing going to find an embolism that modern technology has to offern in the medical field today.

A VQ scan is also useful in determining if there is something out of character going on within the lungs. And, if there is, it can then be checked out. VQ scans have been responsible for saving many lifes and are quite useful when deteriming is fthere is a problem or a foreign body present within the lungs or other areas around the lungs. Even with its shortcomings and areas it needs improvement in, the VQ is an excellent medical advancement.
