There are many languages that were extinct and have been studied and spread again. Most of these languages were once common in their native areas, due to marginilization of local language, low social status and poverty, the native speakers fail to pass these languages to next generation.

Some of them are: Chochenyo, Ainu, Cornish, Dalmatian, Barngarla, Kaurna, Hebrew, Latin, Wampanoag,Sanskrit, Palawa kani, Mutsun, Occitan Gascon, Leonese, Lazuri, Livonian and many more.

There are several extinct languages that have been studied and that have been brought back to be spread and spoken popularly again. Some of the languages to mention are Ainu, Cornish, Dalmation, Latin, Manx, and Sanskrit. These are all languages that at one time were very common in their native areas but over time died out and opened the door for newer versions of the language to appear. This is certainly the case with Latin.

As Latin got older, people opted not to use that language as much. New Latin, or Neo-Latin, evolved over the years and now there are more and more people who are speaking some form of Latin. One can certainly say that these extinct languages were studied out of curiousity and over time there were more and more people who were also interested in learning to speak a language that at one time was deemed to be extinct. It is certainly an interesting field to study and look at.
