They were having an affair, but it suddenly ended because she disappeared. It turns out that Hanna became a Nazi guard, and she had to go on Trial.
A lot of people feel that this is one of the best portrayals that Kate Winslet has ever done. There is no doubt that she is an excellent actress, but she was able to put so much depth into this movie that people also became interested in history. People wanted to know more about how it was like to live during that time.
