Governor of mecca in charge of all of the shops. he saw some guys sitting outside drinking what he thought to be alcohol coffee outside a pub (coffee shop) which was illegal, so he talked to them, found out it was coffee, debate popped up on what coffee was going to be viewed in terms of religion, and culturally. they said that there is something that happens when drinking coffee but its not the same as alcohol (keep it legal), some said that the coffee houses should be band, because they are like taverns (coffee/coffee houses should be band). he decided to ban the consumption of coffee in mecca in 1511. coffee trade is shut down in constantinople (istanbul). after a week-long reign of terror, the sultan decides that coffee is blessed and has the governor executed.
