Many presidents have brought pets into the White House with them. President Barrack Obama was no different. President Obama has a Portuguese water dog. The dog’s name is Bo and was given to the Obamas as a gift after months of debate over what kind of dog they would acquire.
Partially the reason this breed was chosen is because it is hypoallergenic and Malia Obama has allergies that had to be taken into consideration. Sometimes Bo is referred to as the first dog. The Portuguese water dog is a brave breed of dog that can be obedient, intelligent and docile. They can also be a bit quarrelsome but are in general good dogs.
