Dogs and coyotes may seem similar to each other, but they have some differences that will help you know immediately what you are dealing with. Coyotes may look similar to dogs, but they are usually longer and sleeker as compared to dogs. Their muzzles are also more pointed as compared to dogs.

The chest of the dog is deeper and seems to be more homely, which gives them a friendlier appearance as compared to the coyote. There are some people who are successful in taming wild coyotes, but this is still not recommended right now, especially when you are trying to take in a coyote that has lived in the wild for a long time.

Both dogs and coyotes belong to the dog family, and even though they may technically be different animals, but they do share some similar characteristics in behavior and appearance. Coyotes look silkier than dogs, with more pointed nose and mouth, smoother forehead, and thicker tail. The build of the coyote gives the impression that the coyote possesses longer legs than a dog, which is not the case.

When the two animal’s builds are carefully analyzed, a dog’s chest will appear comparably deeper than that of a coyote. Coyotes also have tracks that are more lengthened than dogs. Like dogs, coyotes have a natural fear of people, and they are not aggressive unless provoked.
