Feral cats are cats that are unaccustomed to human interaction, and either were born to stray cats or stray cats that have been strays so long because they haven’t been reclaimed. These cats can be neutered or not, depending on where in the world they are. If there is a neuter, trap, and return program, the neutered stray cats might be tagged in some way to show the local population that the cat is unable to procreate.

A feral cat can also be called many other names. Some of these names include street cat, free-roaming cats, and alley cat (like Thomas O’Malley the Alley Cat in Disney’s “The Aristocats”). Most feral or semi-feral cats are used as farm cats if there is a real need for rat-killing, and were used on ships in the days of wooden ships.
