A quasi-financial entity refers to a company that participates in the financial industry in some capacity but is not considered a financial institution. For example, companies that provide consulting services to the financial industry might be considered quasi-financial institutions.

Companies that lease their products might also be considered quasi-financial institutions (a car dealer leases a car. The financial arm of the dealership that provides the financing for the lease could be considered a quasi-financial entity.).
