Unfortunately, there is no available cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that progresses through many stages. It affects the voluntary group of muscles first. As people start to lose control, their brain is still intact and they can understand and think like a normal human being.

however, the disease progresses on to involve the respiratory muscles. Sometimes people chose to have a ventilator breathe for them, but it is only so long that their brain refuses to coexist. At this point, the person usually dies. The disease is rare, but is always fatal for the patient.
