Shoplifting is a serious crime that is punishable by law. When speaking about removing the security tag from clothes, most people conjure up the image of someone shoplifting.

However, there are other kinds of situations in which you may need to know how to remove the tag that doesn’t entail shoplifting.

For example, you could have just purchased some new clothes, and the cashier forgot to take the security tag off.

In this case, you almost certainly don’t want to take the clothes back to the store because it requires another trip.

• These easy steps will tell you how to take the security tag off on your own.

• Place the ink cartridge of the tag face down.

• The ink cartridge is the portion of the tag that sticks out of the plastic.

• It can be located on the opposing side of the pin.

• Pull the part of the clothing that contains the tag away from the rest of the clothing.

• Move it as far away from the clothes you can get so that the ink does not taint your new clothes if the sensor breaks.

• Place a broad rubber band all around the stick pin of the safety tag.

• Hold the bigger part of the ink tag with one hand while pulling the pin off with the other hand.

• If you do this correctly, the pin will pop off or pull apart from the rest of the tag.
