We wear clothes for protection, clothes are made from different materials like cotton, linen, wool, and silk and so on. Garments are made from these materials to develop different types and styles.

In early times velvet was worn for nobility, velvet is an oven fabric, which is woven on a special loom creating a pile that provides it either distinct feel. The most expensive form of silk is made from silk which is very soft and shiny. There are several patterns for velvet which include hammered, embossed, crushed, panned, Devore velvet pattern.

Velveteen is made from cotton, it is not soft and shiny like velvet, its pile is shorter, it is fuller and not easy to drape as velvet. Velveteen which is a limitation of the fabric is worn by those who do not have enough money to buy velvet.

Velvet is a very ancient fabric, while velveteen is a rather recent phenomenon. Velvet was earlier made from silk though it later was produced from many different materials such as wool, polyester, linen, rayon, and even cotton. Velvet was so expensive that it was worn only by the king’s and nobility.

Velveteen is a fabric made from using the same weave that is used for making velvet. Velveteen is a much thinner and denser fabric, and velvet is a much thicker fabric than most soft fabrics, and this is because it is made linking two pieces together on a loom.

Velvet made from silk is the most expensive, while velveteen is like the poor man’s velvet. You can even find cotton velvet on the market. Velveteen is usually made with cotton fabric, and this is the reason why it does not possess the shine of real velvet.
