"I" and "me" are examples of words that you might easily consider to be the same, simply because they are most times used when talking about one's self, or when describing things that pattern to one's self. However, the major difference between the two words lies in how both are used when forming sentences.

While a lot of people might not find it hard to figure out that both words are pronouns; however, many may not know that "I" is a subject pronoun, while "Me" is an object pronoun. "I' is used mostly to replace the subject of a sentence. On the other hand, "me" is used to replace the object of a sentence.

At times, deciding where to put each word can be a problem. However, all you need to do is to determine the subject and object of the sentence. For example, the lion is moving very close to me. Here the lion is the subject, and "me" is representing the object pronoun. So, it will be very wrong to say: the lion is moving very close to "I".

The short words "I" and "me" are two words that are used virtually every day by anyone that can and chooses to have his or her conversation in the English language. "I" and "me" are both pronouns with respect to their part of speech. There are actually different kinds of pronouns with different usage, and one pronoun may not be able to substitute each other, as it will be a grammatical error.

So, "I" is a subject pronoun, while "me" is an object pronoun. This simply means that you use "I" at the beginning of sentences, while you use "me" mostly at the end of sentences.

For example, you can say, "I am the owner of that pen; it belongs to me," which is correct. But it would be totally wrong to use "I" and "me" for each other. For example, you can't say "me is the owner of the pen; it belongs to I." That is totally wrong.
