What is the difference between AHB and APB?

You may be confused with what these acronyms mean. The AHB stands for Advanced High-Performance Bus. APB, on the other hand, will stand for Advanced Peripheral Bus. They are bus types that are being promoted as part of the Advanced Microprocessor Bus Architecture, also known as AMBA.

They have some differences, for example in terms of the type of memory that they will use in order to work. APB will make use of massive memory IO access while the AHB will be using the full-duplex parallel communication. The bus interface of the AHB can be very useful for high-performance designs.
