Global System for Mobile Communication is also referred to as 2G. This technology was the first installment in digital wireless communication over the existing mobile communication. Technology standard first came out in 1991, and from that onwards, the number of subscribers has reached about 200 million during 1998.

This scenario was the first time the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card was introduced, and better communication options were achieved. It was also a turning point in which many subscribers are permitted to make calls at any given time. 3G, on the other hand, is an upgrade from 2G. The mobile standard specification is released, which is compatible with International Mobile Telecommunications (2000) specifications for multi-media support.

3G specifications came out and made it possible for technology to develop further. Functions such as video calls, high-speed internet, video streaming, video conferencing, and location-based services can be provided by mobile phones. The first commercial 3G came out in 2001 in Japan.

2G and 3G networks are normally available to phone mobile subscribers. 2G is considered to be a primitive type of technology. Even if there are some parts of the world that still make use of this, this is far slower as compared to a 3G network. The data transmission speed that you can expect when you are using 2G is 170Kbps. It is going to be faster when you are using 3G at 43,000 Kbps. There are so many things that you can do and accomplish when you are using 3G as compared to when you are using 2G. Right now, 5G is the type of network that people are aiming to get because this is going to be far faster even when 2G and 3G network speeds are combined.

These are 2nd and 3rd generation technologies used in wireless communication. Global System for mobile communication is 2G, which is the first step towards digital wireless connection over the current analog connection. In this know-how, for the first time, SIM, which stands for Subscriber Identity Module, is introduced, and more reliable and clear communication is accomplished. Presently, most of the world is covered by GSM, which stands for Global Systems Mobile. Multiple technologies are utilized.

These include TDMA, which stands for Time Division Multiple Access, and FDMA, which stands for Frequency Division Multiple Access. This technology allows many users to make calls simultaneously at any given time. 3G is the mobile standard requirement released, which is compatible with IMT, which stands for International Mobile Telecommunication.

3G specifications made way for the next-generation standard. Applications such as video calls, high-speed internet, multimedia applications, video streaming, video conferencing, and location-based services can be provided to mobile phones. The first commercial 3G phone was launched in Japan in 2001. It was here that the air interface technology, known as the multiple access technique, came into play.

A lot of people do not use 2g and 3g networks right now especially because of the appearance of 4g and 5g. Yet, you may be very curious about what the difference between these two is. One of the differences is that 3g is going to work so much faster as compared to 2g when it comes to downloading different data online.

Do you know that the speed of the 2g connection is very slow at 170Kbps? In 3g networks, you can already expect that it will be about 43,000 Kbps. You can already imagine how different the speed of these two networks is, right? Of course, downloading will be so much faster when you try out 4g.

2G and 3G Network Technology are two types of data networks. 2G is older, as it was first introduced in 1993, while 3G technology was introduced in 2001. Both networks use two different types of technologies. 2G networks use GSM, while 3G networks use WCDMA. Both have a bandwidth of 25 Mhz, but they both use different internet services. 2G uses narrowband, while 3G uses broadband. Each type of network can be used for different purposes, which is based on the technology and service. 2G is just used for calls and short-form messages, while 3G can be used videos, TVs, and GPS.
