Some people may become confused with Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic simply because they have the same “Czech.” Actually, the Czech Republic used to be part of Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia existed until 1992 when it was decided that it will be divided into two nations. The division of the two nations happened peacefully.

One of the nations is obviously the Czech Republic while the other nation is called Slovakia. The main reason why this happened is because of the overall sentiment of the country. When the division was taking place, a lot of people thought that it was for the best although there are also some who may have some regrets about it.
