Though both hardwood and engineered flooring entail the use of wood, they have quite some differences. A very major difference between them is that the material of the component for the hardwood flooring is pure hardwood from the beginning to end. Conversely, the engineered flooring entails the use of pure hardwood and plywood.

The price of these flooring is another notable difference between them, as the pure hardwood is known to be of better quality, and also more expensive than the other. The use of plywood in the engineered flooring makes it cheaper as this material is easily obtainable in the environment. The hardwood flooring is also considered to be far more durable, as it has proven to last for centuries without any wear or tear or any kind of damage.

The flooring has a great resistance to termites and pests, which can be of threat to the installed woods. Engineered flooring is less durable when compared with the former, as the plywood can be easily penetrated and spoilt by pests and termites, as well as some adverse weather conditions.

Are you thinking about getting the right flooring, but you are not sure which one you are going to get? You can probably get solid hardwood flooring when you want something that is literally made out of wood. Hardwood will be literally made out of wood and would probably cost a lot of money. You can also expect that this type of flooring can be heavier as compared to engineered wood.

Engineered wood, on the other hand, will have a thin piece of hardwood on the top portion while the bottom part will be made out of different types of wood. Take note that engineered wood will be different from laminate flooring, and this is still not considered to be cheap, especially since it comes with a layer of hardwood.
