Hardwood and softwood pellets are used by many people around the world as pellet fuels depending on their liking and activity. Usually, softwood pellets, as its name suggests, are softer than hardwood pellets. Thus, they can be easily burned and are cleaner than its opposite. People who are experiencing the four seasons choose softwood pellet over hardwood pellet during the coldest days and months as it provides more heat.

Hardwood pellets have longer burn time compared to softwood pellets because of the higher density in comparison with the softwood pellet. Softwood pellet has a higher heat output and produces less ash compared to hardwood. So, it is safe to say that using softwood pellets in a closed room is safer than burning hardwood pellets.

Most stoves do not require anything to be burned to create fire or heat. However, there are times today, and many times, hundreds of years ago that people had to burn pellets in their stove. There are two different kinds. There are the hardwood and the softwood pellets. If you are strapped for cash, then you should probably buy the softwood pellets because they cost less.

That does not mean that the hardwood pellets that cost more burn longer. If you want more heat, then you should use softwood pellets because they put out more heat. They also produce less ash than the hardwood pellets. It is necessary to know the difference between these pellets if you are going to use them to burn to produce heat.
