A lot of people are actually confused with the difference between FMLA, which stands for Family Medical Leave Act, and PFL or Paid Family Leave program. PFL is still not being implemented, but it will help to know the difference between the two so that you will know what to expect. FMLA will provide employees with 12 weeks of job-protected payment, which means that the company they are working for will not be able to fire them for taking a leave.

There are different reasons that will be considered valid to take this type of leave. PFL, on the other hand, is something that is available in New York. The difference of this is that it can offer eight weeks of leave. The amount that will be paid will be 50% of their weekly wage.
