The atoms can be visible under the microscope, but the different particles of atoms cannot be seen under the microscope anymore probably because they are too small. There are other types of special equipment that may be used in order to figure out the formation of the particles of the atom, but the microscope is not the best item that can be used for this purpose.

In fact, the type of microscope that is used to view atoms is different from the type of microscope that you can usually see in the lab. If you want to see atoms, you should use a transmission electron microscope instead. This will be effective in viewing atoms.

Atomic nuclei that is composed of protons have been viewed with the help of an electron microscope. Electrons are so much smaller than most of the atomic nuclei, thus we are capable of using them as a way to view the various features of atoms. But of course, seeing an electron is not at all possible, even with the help of such microscopes.

Tunnel Beam Electron microscopes can be used to see the outermost parts of certain groups of atoms so long as they are solid and metallic. But these microscopes do not have the capability to see subatomic levels and particles and nuclei. Light is shown by changes in atomic levels and configuration and the light waves have a greater length than the typical size atoms.

There are now different microscopes that were not available before that will allow you to see atoms. This is considered to be a big thing because before, it was not possible to see atoms under the microscope. There were even some speculations that perhaps atoms did not exist.

Even if atoms are visible, it will not be possible at this time to see the particles of atoms under the microscope. There is still not enough proof to show that there are actually particles of atoms available but the theories created about it seem to prove that the different particles of atoms namely protons, electrons, and neutrons do exist.
