Captain Marvel will not be depowered in the MCU. The character that is famous for being depowered has to be Captain America. There were just some changes that were made in order to make the character fit the movie plot. For Captain Marvel now, the character will show her true powers although it may not be evident in the beginning that she is the strongest out of all the Marvel characters that are available.
The fact that she has the powers of all the superheroes truly make her one of a kind from all the rest. There are some reports that there will still be some changes made but as of now, she is still strong.
