There are several similarities and several differences between a Golden retriever and a Labrador retriever. To summarize just a few, as their name suggests, they are both retrievers and both belong to the sporting breed category. When adults, they both will reach similar heights and weights.

They both also share many of the same temperament qualities and they both make great family pets. Difference include Labs can be black, yellow or chocolate (brown) in contrast to a Golden which is always a golden-like color more commonly known as fawn. A Lab’s hair tends to be straight and short while a Golden’s tends to be long and wavy.
