The root “cardio” refers to the heart, but myocardial refers to the heart’s muscular tissue. If there is a problem with the myocardial part, that means that the heart’s tissue is the problem and not the valves or other parts of it.

After someone dies, an autopsy may be done to see how the person died especially if it was in question. If an autopsy is done of an older person and the muscular tissue around the heart is firm and it is a dark brown color, the coronary arteries may show minimal atherosclerotic changes.

Most likely, there is a substance that would be found in the myocardial fibers of the heart and it would most likely be in an excessive amount. This substance would be lipofuscin.

Lipofuscin-lipofuscin is a wear-and-tear pigment that increases with aging, particularly in liver and myocardium. thepigment has minimal effect on cellular function in most cases. rarely, there is marked lipofuscin deposition in a smallheart, a so-called brown atrophy. melanin pigment is responsible for skin tone: the more melanin, the darker the skin.hemosiderin is the breakdown product of hemoglobin that contains the iron. hearts with excessive iron deposition tend tobe large. glycogen is increased in some inherited enzyme disorders, and when the heart is involved, heart size increases.bilirubin, another breakdown product of hemoglobin, imparts a yellow appearance (icterus) to tissues.bp7 20bp8 25pbd7 3940pbd8 3637
