Operon: The sequence of genes located one after another on the same chromosomal DNA that controls enzyme formation. Structural genes: constitutive genes that encode for enzymes

Upstream promoter: controls expression of the operon, repressor operator can be bound by regulatory protein to control rna polymerase binding to the promoter. Upstream activator: promotes operon expression when bound by activator protein. Negative feedback: Expression of genes catalyze substrates to form products that regulate expression.
